first-light-Busselton Jetty, Perth to Margaret River Tour

Sun Rise at Busselton Jetty

On day one we make the scenic drive from Perth through the charming seaside towns of Mandurah, where we’ll take a coffee break at a café by the foreshore; Bunbury where we’ll visit the Featured Wood Gallery & Museum, then onto Busselton where we stop for a delicious lunch.

Busselton is home to the famous Busselton Jetty, the longest timber pile jetty in the southern hemisphere stretching 1.8km out into picturesque Geographe Bay.

On arrival to Margaret River we stop in at local artisan Vasse Virgin formerly known as Natural Olive Oil Soap Factory. In spring we’ll take the opportunity to see the spectacular wildflowers on a short bush walk.

As the day winds down we head to the McLeod family farm to see mobs of Western Grey Kangaroos in their natural environment, we might even meet Neil’s friendly horses… Before settling into your accomodation we take a drive to the coast for spectacular views of world class surf breaks, Margaret River hosts the best surfers in the world during April each year for the “Margaret River Pro”.

Your night will be spent in comfort at the four-star Margarets Beach Resort (by the coast) or stay at Margarets Forest (in the town centre). Evening meal at own expense.

Day Two

bud-burst-in-the-vineyardDay two is packed with amazing food, wine, culture and scenery, as we join the popular Eat + Drink + Explore Tour. We depart your accommodation at 9:10am for a day spent tasting wine, craft beer, coffee, cheese, olive oil and condiments, and everyone’s favourite – chocolate! Lunch is at the award winning Cowaramup Brewery, where we’ll also enjoy a complimentary crafted brew, or some lovely local wine.

We return for the evening to Margarets Beach Resort at around 5:00pm, where you’ll be able to relax after a busy day and dine at your leisure (evening meal at own expense). You can walk to the beach and watch the sun set over the ocean – superb!

Day Three – Incredible Natural Highlights

Day Three is our third and final day, on which we’ll explore the region’s stunning sceneryneil-his-beloved-horses and fantastic natural and cultural attractions on the Forest, Cave & Lighthouse tour.

We check out of Margarets Beach Resort at 8:00am, before making our way to Redgate Beach, where you’ll hear stories of shipwrecks and other tales of the region. The tour goes underground at the spectacular Mammoth Cave, one of just a few caves in the south west which contains fossils.

A scenic drive through the majestic Boranup Forest will take us to Boranup Gallery, showcasing beautiful and creative wood designs and furniture. Tea and coffee can be purchased from the Boranup Gallery Café – the homemade scones are a favourite!

Then it’s time to head seaward – to see Hamelin Bay’s spectacular beach with its fine white sand, clear blue water and friendly stingrays swimming in the shallows. We pass through Augusta with stunning views of the Blackwood River before arriving at the tallest lighthouse on mainland Australia, Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse, where we’ll take a guided tour and spot the point where the Southern and Indian oceans contos-beachmeet. Watch out for whales – southern right, humpback and blue whales can often be seen from the towers!

We stop for lunch and a tea or coffee at the Deck Chair Café in Augusta, before hitting the road and travelling through wine and dairy country along the Bussell Highway, back to Margaret River.

You’ll have some free time in Margaret River town to stroll around or pick-up a special memento or gift to take home. Then it’s all aboard again, as we farewell Margaret River at around 3-3:30pm and drive back to Mandurah or Perth.

We’ll pick you up

Our friendly driver and tour guide will pick you up from your Perth hotel or Wellington Street Coach Stand outside the Perth Train Station.

Many thanks to Neil McLeod for a truly memorable 3 days in the Margaret River Region. With Neil’s incredible local knowledge we were given a personal insight into the area.
The McLeod family are passionate about giving visitors a unique and fulfilling experience and this was evident in every detail of the tour.
Days 1 and 3 were filled with wonderful sights and experiences including visiting Busselton Jetty, Wood & Art Galleries, Mammoth Cave, Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse, a wildflower walk and much more.
Day 2 was a full day of delicious tastings which included coffee, wines, venison, olive oils, condiments, cheeses and chocolates.
An unforgettable and very enjoyable experience. We highly recommend the Perth to Margaret River 3 Day

McLeod Three Day Tour

Interesting and informative. The scenery is beautiful. The best part of the tour is the guide, Neil McLeod. Neil is a long-time resident of Margaret River. The tour includes beautiful beaches, wonderful wineries, etc.
However, what makes this tour special is the pride and passion Neil has for this area, his home. You will experience many beautiful places, but Neil’s “personal touch” adds so much more color and depth. It is a wonderful three days.

Excellent boutique introduction to Margaret River

Neil arrived on-time with a winning smile and ‘can do anything to help’ attitude which considering my husband is severely disabled & needed assistance was enlightening and thoroughly welcomed by us both. His bus was immaculate & his manner delightful and charming. He drove us (and 6 others) down to the Margaret River region(& back again 3 days later) whilst stopping a plethora of times to show us many sights, including a ‘nature walk’ in the woods to see native flowers, enchanting!
As it was a ‘special’ birthday for me he asked me where I’d like to visit & went out of his way to arrange everything seemingly effortlessly, but none of it went un-noticed, we loved it all. He even took us to his property to see his horses & his passion for Margaret River is unquestionable. He lives there locally & he imparted his knowledge gladly, it was all so interesting, his passion clear. We will definitely be back & I pledge you all to join him directly.
